Freshwater pearls are genuine nature-made pearls.  The pearls are grown in a mussel or other bi-valve that lives in freshwater lakes and rivers.  The only difference between freshwater pearls and saltwater pearls are where they are grown and cultivated.  We purchase our pearls direct from a lovely little family-owned pearl farm in China.
